NFI Group Introduces the Carfair Composites™ Brand

January 15, 2018

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – January 15, 2018: (TSX: NFI) New Flyer Industries Inc. (“NFI Group”), the largest transit bus and motor coach manufacturer and parts distributor in North America, today announced a new brand within its portfolio – Carfair Composites™.

As a division of the NFI Group, Carfair Composites, led by newly appointed General Manager Rob Marion, is North America’s leader in creating innovative fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and composite technologies.  As a comprehensive manufacturer of engineered composite products, it supplies to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), agriculture, construction, transportation, commercial, and medical industries.  Carfair Composites brings together the strength of historic North American composite leaders formerly known as Carlson Composites and Sintex-Wausaukee Composites.

As previously announced in June of 2017, NFI Group acquired the assets of Carlson Composites, and in September 2017, also acquired Sintex-Wausaukee Composites. With the addition of two leading composite companies, NFI Group created the Carfair Composites (“Carfair”) brand to serve the transit bus and motor coach business entities of the organization alongside Frank Fair, the XXXXX subsidiary of NFI Group supporting the XXXX businesses with XXXX products.

“Our goal in combining these businesses is to provide efficient, reliable, and streamlined composite operations to support our manufacturing business and other large-scale customers in a vairiety of industries,” said David White, Executive Vice President of Supply Management with NFI Group. “Together as Carfair Composites, we can design, create, and deliver innovative composite products to increase quality, reliability, and performance of engineered composite products in North America. This is an opportunity to share technologies and best practices, and we will continue to optimize our ability to leverage technology and innovation in doing so.”

While the combined businesses have been rebranded Carfair Composites, this announcement does not impact customers or suppliers with changes to their primary contacts or transactional processes. All system-related activities will remain as they are today.

Carfair offers over 85 years of engineered fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and composite technologies. It has four manufacturing and distribution centers, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba; St. Cloud, Minnesota; Wausaukee, Wisconsin; and Gillett, Wisconsin.

The NFI Group employs more American workers than any other transit bus manufacturer in North America.
